-Use tools without sharp edges
-Ensure that the O-Ring is not twisted, use installation aids to assist correct positioning
-Use installation aids wherever possible
-Do not over stretch O-Rings

O-Ring Installation Aids
Automatic installation failed:Automatic O-Ring installation requires good preparation. Thesurfaces of the O.Rings are frequently treated by several metho ds. For example: adding talcum powder, spraying Teflon or parylene on the surface.This offers a number ofbenefts during installation by

O-Ring Stretch Limitation
Installation that requires crossing threads and splines:Installation Over Threads, Spines, Etc.
Should the O-Ring have to be stretched over threads, splines,keyways etc., then an assembly mandrel is essential.   This mandrelcan either be manufactured in a soft metal or a plastic materialobviously without burrs or sharp edges.
O-Ring Installation
Installation suggestions:Before starting installation, check the following points.
Lead-in chamfers made according to drawing?
Bores deburred and edges rounded?
Machining residues, e.g. chips, dirt and foreign particles, removed?
Screw thread tips covered?
Seals and components greased or oiled? Ensure media compatibility withthe elastomer material.
Do not use lubricants with solid additives, e.g. molybdenum disulphide or zinc sulphide.
O-Ring Assembly Cleanliness

1、Cleanliness
Foreign particles such as dust, dirt, metal chips, grit in the groovemay cause leakage and can damage the O-ring. Cleaning materialmust also be a medium which is compatible with the elastomer
2、Stretch
The inside diameter expansion to reach the groove duringassembly should not exceed 50%, For very small diameters, it isnecessary to cxcced this limit, If so, suficient time should beallowed for the O-ing to return to its normal diameter beforeclosing the groove assembly.
3、Lubrication
For static and dynamic applications lubrication is important forease of assembly, The greatest beneft in using a lubricant isobtained during the initial installation of the O-ring.   Grease usedto ease assembly must be compatible. Do not use a lubricantcomposed of the same material as the O-ring. For example,silicone grease can be effectively used on EPDM seals, but notrecommended for VMQ seals. Common lubricants for O-rings are:
1)Hydrocarbon-based materials: Such as petrolatum, betterknown as petroleum jelly-Vaseline®, But it is also availablein liguid form.
2)Silicone-based greases: Such as Dow Coming DC-55, ageneral-purpose grease.   Silicone-based greases have a wideworking temperature range and are compatible with severalkinds of rubber materials.
3)Barium-based greases: For high temperature applications andapplications requiring chemical compatibility.
4)Other formulations: Such as Celvacene®, Celvacene containsno silicone and is specifically engineered for use in highvacuum pump applications.
